The Princess of Wales delighted royal fans when she was seen heading to Crathie Kirk for Sunday service with her husband, Prince William, and their son, Prince George. This marked Kate’s first public appearance since the men’s final at Wimbledon in July.
She looked elegant in a brown checked trench coat from Holland Cooper and a Hicks & Brown feathered hat.
However, many royal enthusiasts were puzzled by her wintery attire given that it’s currently summer in the Northern Hemisphere.
One follower questioned, “So it’s cold year-round in the UK?” Another wondered, “Is it already autumn weather?” A third commented, “I’m in California, and just looking at fall clothes makes me feel warmer!”
While London’s average summer temperature is around 23°C (73°F), Scotland tends to be cooler. The weather forecast for Aberdeenshire on Sunday was cloudy, with a high of 16°C (60°F) and a low of 9°C (48°F). This cooler climate explains why Kate, Queen Camilla, and the Duchess of Edinburgh were dressed in autumnal coats and jackets.
Kate paired her checked coat and fedora with gold statement earrings. Sophie, 59, wore a taupe jacket over a high-necked outfit, while Camilla, 77, opted for an emerald jacket with red tartan detailing and a matching feathered hat. King Charles, 75, looked dapper in a kilt.
The Prince and Princess of Wales are enjoying a Bank Holiday weekend in Scotland before their three children—Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6—return to Lambrook School next month. George will enter Year 7, Charlotte will start Year 5, and Louis will be in Year 2.
Earlier this month, the family spent part of their summer vacation at Anmer Hall in Norfolk, where they were spotted playing with nerf guns at Bear Grylls’ Gone Wild Festival at Holkham Hall.
