Rapper Drake Confirmed That His Song “Too Good” Featuring Rihanna Is Inspired By Tennis Star, Serena Williams

Drake has confirmed a widely speculated theory about his 2016 hit song “Too Good,” featuring Rihanna.

The rapper recently released unseen footage from his studio sessions, which includes a significant revelation about the song’s inspiration.

In the video, Drake is seen talking with his mother off-camera and admits that the song was written with tennis star Serena Williams in mind. Although the lyrics discuss being “too good” for a lover, Drake clarifies that the track is both about and for Serena.

Drake explains, “If I’m going to talk about [women], I’ll at least do them the justice of making them a song that they like. I know Serena very well, and I know she’ll hear it loud and clear.”

He adds that he doesn’t think Serena will “hate” him for the song, as it’s meant to be playful. During the conversation, Drake’s mother jokingly reminds him that Serena has moved on, likely referring to her relationship with Alexis Ohanian, which began in 2015.

Drake and Serena’s relationship became public after they were seen kissing at a restaurant in Cincinnati.

They quickly became close, attending events like New York Fashion Week and various restaurant openings. However, their romance was short-lived, as Serena became engaged to Alexis by the end of 2016.

This new footage provides fans with a rare look into Drake’s creative process and personal life, revealing the real-life inspirations behind his music.
