The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are experiencing a very different upbringing from their royal cousins, growing up along the sunlit coastline of Montecito in Santa Barbara.
Prince Harry and Meghan have chosen “the best place to live in California” to raise their young family, a town renowned for its health-conscious residents who nourish themselves with a variety of ultra-healthy restaurants and organic local produce.
Given Meghan’s well-known commitment to her health and wellbeing, it’s likely that she and Prince Harry are raising their children on a similarly nutritious diet.
Prince Archie
In her latest candid interview with The Cut, the Duchess of Sussex offers a rare glimpse into her children’s lives, including details about Archie’s nutritious daily diet and favorite after-school snacks.
The 2022 article reveals that five-year-old Archie is picked up from preschool and enjoys “munching on a quesadilla,” a Mexican dish made with a tortilla filled primarily with cheese, though it can also include meat and vegetables.
Living in Southern California, the Sussexes have plenty of options for Mexican cuisine, with numerous beachside restaurants serving vibrant tacos, zesty guacamole, and spicy margaritas.
Even their snacks are health-conscious. According to The Cut, Meghan prepared “kits with water, peanut-butter crackers, and granola bars” to distribute to an “unhoused man” on Archie’s way home from school, which the then three-year-old also enjoyed. Meghan also ensures that Archie has “a week’s worth of freshly picked fruit” to share with his classmates.
Princess Lilibet
Before Archie and Lilibet were born, Meghan’s makeup artist friend Daniel Martin shared with Gayle King: “I’m sure the baby will be raised in a clean and green environment. Clean and green for the baby. Meghan loves to cook and opts for organic whenever possible.”
Daniel also mentioned that Meghan, being a foodie, would likely avoid ready-made baby food for Archie. “I can totally see her making her own baby food,” he said.
During a podcast episode of The Audacity of the Activist with Jameela Jamil and Shohreh Aghdashloo, Meghan echoed this sentiment. “You don’t realize the nutritional value of homemade food,” she remarked.
Fortunately, it seems Meghan doesn’t need to worry too much about her children’s diet. “Thankfully, my kids love vegetables,” the Duchess added.
