Two Chinese expatriates, Chen Wenguang and Liang Ding, have been abducted by unknown gunmen in the Kemta/Abule-Owu area along Onigbedu Road in Ogun State.

The kidnapping occurred around 1:45 p.m. on Sunday when the two men left their company to visit friends. They were affiliated with Good One Carton Company in the area.

A police source revealed that Wenguang and Ding left the company without informing the security personnel, including police and military assigned to their location, or even notifying the company.

They had told a few individuals they were going to Kémta village, approximately one kilometer from the company, to visit friends.

Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola confirmed the incident, stating that the kidnappers have contacted the company to demand a ransom for the victims’ release.

Odutola explained, “The company’s security supervisor reported that one of the expatriates had called to inform him of the kidnapping and that the abductors were asking for money.

“Our operatives from the Ewekoro Division, supported by local vigilantes, military personnel from the Social Orientation and Safety Corps, local hunters, and other security teams, conducted a thorough search of the Kémta Village forest but were unable to locate the victims.”

She added that efforts to secure the release of Wenguang and Ding are ongoing.
