Nigerians have disrupted South African ride-hailing services and various other businesses in retaliation for an online ‘order war.’
Triggered by a recent ‘order war’ started by South Africans, Nigerian users have caused a spike in taxi fares in South Africa by organizing ride-hailing drivers to gather at specific spots.
This move follows South Africans bragging on X (formerly Twitter) about intentionally wasting Nigerian drivers’ time by placing and then canceling ride requests.
In response, Nigerians have broadened their actions to include other South African businesses, such as restaurants that accept payment on arrival, in a coordinated effort to disrupt their operations.
