A man, whose identity has not yet been revealed, was killed by a moving train in the Mushin area of Lagos State.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Monday, August 26, 2024, while the man was walking along the Cappa railway tracks.
Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, confirmed the accident in a statement, noting that the victim was found dead at the scene with severe injuries from the collision.
According to the statement, “The agency’s Eagle Response Team was activated in response to a distress alert about the train accident along the railway line opposite the LASEMA Response Base in Cappa around 6 p.m.”
“Upon arrival, we discovered an adult male who had been walking on the railway tracks and was struck by an oncoming train. The man, who was partially dressed, died instantly due to the impact.”
“The body has been bagged by our response team and is awaiting the arrival of the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit for transport to the morgue.”
