The Lagos State Police Command has detained an unnamed nurse in connection with the death of a 36-year-old woman, identified only as Abiola, following a botched buttock enlargement procedure allegedly performed by the nurse.
According to Police spokesman SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the arrest occurred after the Maroko Police Division received a report on Tuesday around 11:40 am from the deceased’s driver, whose identity has not been disclosed.
Hundeyin explained that the driver reported that at approximately 3 am on Monday, his employer, a resident of Diamond Estate, Sangotedo-Lekki, requested a ride to a clinic in Lekki Phase 1 for a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure.
Upon arrival, the clinic owner directed a nurse to administer the injection, but the woman soon lost consciousness and began gasping for breath. She was rushed to another hospital in Lekki Phase 1, where she was pronounced dead by the attending physician.
Following the report, a team of detectives visited the scene and the hospital, where they inspected and photographed the body before it was transferred to a public morgue for an autopsy.
Hundeyin confirmed that the nurse has been arrested and that an investigation is ongoing.
