King Charles Reportedly Planning To Remove Prince Andrew’s Private Security Team From His Windsor Residence

Andrew’s private security has been funded by the monarch since he lost his publicly-funded police protection in 2022. According to The Sun on Sunday, the security detail has been informed that their services will no longer be needed after November.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Andrew, 64, declined an offer to move from Royal Lodge to the nearby Frogmore Cottage.

King Charles is said to have pressured Andrew to leave Royal Lodge due to his failure to cover the £500,000 annual maintenance costs, which have led to deteriorating brickwork and damp issues.

The Times noted that Prince Andrew signed a 73-year lease with the Crown Estate in 2003, which requires him to “repair, renew, uphold, clean, and maintain” the property. Royal Lodge, a 19th-century estate on the 98-acre Windsor grounds, became part of Charles’ estate following Queen Elizabeth II’s death in 2022.

Since their divorce in 2008, Sarah and Andrew have lived in separate wings of the large property.

Reflecting on their living situation, the Duchess of York told USA Today, “Andrew and I, we’re the happiest divorced couple in the world—extraordinary, really. We live in the same house, but it’s a big house, so that’s okay. It’s good that we believe in compromise, communication, and compassion.”

Despite ongoing speculation that Charles is pressuring Andrew to leave Royal Lodge, Sarah Ferguson seemed to dismiss these rumors during an interview with ¡HOLA! TV in 2023.

When asked about the potential eviction and move to Frogmore Cottage, she advised, “Don’t always believe what you read.”

Prince Andrew stepped back from public duties in May 2020 amid controversy over his ties with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and was later stripped of his royal and military titles.
