Katie Holmes posted a heartfelt message on Instagram Wednesday to support her friend and future co-star, Natasha Lyonne.

Holmes shared the trailer for Natasha’s upcoming film, His Three Daughters, with the caption, “Congratulations @nlyonne!!!!”

The Netflix film revolves around three estranged sisters who reunite to care for their ailing father in his final days, exploring themes of past trauma and resentment. Starring Natasha Lyonne, Elizabeth Olsen, and Carrie Coon, the film is already generating Oscar buzz for its poignant depiction of family dynamics.

Natasha Lyonne expressed her excitement about the film to Vanity Fair, stating, “For me, it’s now been a 40-year career, and I don’t know that I’ve ever seen something like this.”

Katie is also set to join Natasha in the cast of Poker Face, a critical hit featuring Natasha as Charlie Cale, a cocktail waitress with a unique ability to detect lies and solve murder mysteries across America. The show, created by Rian Johnson, was nominated for four Emmy awards in its first season, with the second season anticipated to be even better. Katie will guest star alongside Kumail Nanjiani, Giancarlo Esposito, and Gaby Hoffman.

Natasha reminisced with The Hollywood Reporter about the casting process, recalling, “Rian and I made a list of all our dream people to work with. We ended up with quite a few of those people, either because we love them or had always wanted to work with them.”

Katie had previously shared her enthusiasm about joining the cast in a July Instagram post, writing, “What a thrill!…Thank you @nlyonne for having me!” Natasha responded warmly in the comments, saying, “Such beautiful work, precious Katie, can’t wait for all to see you shine!” Katie replied, “@nlyonne, thank you so much! You are the best! You are so very brilliant in every way!”

With her daughter Suri heading to college in the fall, Katie, 45, has a busy slate of projects ahead. Suri, whom Katie shares with ex-husband Tom Cruise, was recently spotted in a TikTok video wearing a Carnegie Mellon sweatshirt, hinting at her college choice. The prestigious Pennsylvania university, known for its historic drama program, might inspire Suri to follow in her parents’ acting footsteps.
