Royal fans around the world are feeling the absence of the Princess of Wales, as she steps away from official duties to focus on her preventative cancer treatment.
Since her heartbreaking announcement in February, Princess Kate has only made two public appearances: at the Trooping the Colour parade in June and at the Wimbledon Championships in July.
Although she has expressed her desire to return to royal duties “as soon as I am able,” she now has a long summer ahead to spend with her husband and children before resuming her work.
Previously, the summer plans of the Wales family were unknown. The Prince and Princess of Wales often take Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis on trips abroad, with favorite destinations including St Barths, Mustique, and the Isles of Scilly.
Later in the summer, William and Kate traditionally join other members of the royal family at Balmoral, the late Queen Elizabeth II’s cherished Scottish residence, now inherited by King Charles.
According to a report in the Mail on Sunday, the Princess of Wales will join her husband and three children at Balmoral this summer, continuing their tradition. The family will travel the 502 miles from Adelaide Cottage in Windsor to Balmoral Castle, where the King will host his family for the second time during his reign.
