Kanye West surprised his fans Friday night by dropping his shock new single Slide, a duet with his collaborator Ty Dolla $ign.
Ty Dolla $ign and West released their smash hit album Vultures 1 in February, and rumors have been swirling since about when Vultures 2 will materialize.
Now, in a sign that a full follow-up album may be in the near future, West released Slide to be available for streaming on his website Yeezy.com.
THE LYRICS
West, 47, defiantly raps: ‘But when I slide it in like a drive by, the industry don’t like me. Tell them p***y n***as likewise. They tried to hit me with the cyanide.’
The single came less than two years after West saw his career implode and his billion-dollar fortune plummet over a string of anti-Semitic diatribes, including praise for Hitler and a vow to ‘go death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE.’
ABOUT SLIDE’S LYRICS
Slide’s lyrics are largely of a sexual nature, as when West says: ‘She know what I like, got me in a twilight, headed to the high-rise, cruisin’ like Eyes Wide Shut.’
TY DOLLA’S LYRIC
Ty Dolla $ign’s verse includes: ‘Pretty girl, all she ever do is take selfies. Said she only f***in’ with a n***a ’cause I’m wealthy. Back when I was broke, I couldn’t find no one to help me. Now there ain’t a motherf***in’ thing they can tell me.’
He proudly boasts that his friend ‘Ye got the rhythm, make the ladies go crazy,’ while ‘Dolla got the stroke, make her wanna have my babies.’
Slide has apparently been in development for some time – a version was first played at a listening party in Geneva last September, according to Variety.
