The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have concluded their four-day tour of Colombia after receiving a personal invitation from Vice President Francia Márquez.
The couple is undoubtedly eager to return home to their young children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who stayed in Santa Barbara while their parents traveled to Bogotá to promote their charity work focused on online safety for children.
It’s unclear whether the Sussexes flew commercial or chartered a private jet for the 7-hour, 45-minute flight from LAX to the Colombian capital. Although they have stepped back from royal duties, Harry and Meghan are no strangers to luxury. According to MailOnline, when flying privately, they often opt for a luxurious 12-seater Cessna 680 Citation Sovereign jet.
This aircraft features state-of-the-art interiors, including spacious bathrooms, mood lighting, comfortable leather seats, on-board WiFi, and executive desks.
The Sussexes reportedly flew by private jet during their visit to London for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022, likely choosing this mode of travel for ease and comfort, especially since it was their children’s first long-haul flight to the UK. The Cessna’s mechanics are custom-designed for “smooth and safe flights,” boasting high-functioning carbon brakes, fuel efficiency, and a powerful electrical navigation system for seamless travel.
According to Liberty Jet, the Cessna 680 Citation Sovereign currently retails for around $7,395,000 (£5,675,588), not including the cost of hiring a pilot. It remains unknown whether Harry and Meghan own the jet or rent it for their transatlantic journeys. When not indulging in luxury at 32,000 feet, the couple has also been known to fly via British Airways.
During a brief stopover in London on their return from Nigeria in May, they reportedly traveled in the First-Class section of a Boeing 777.
Private air travel isn’t exclusive to Prince Harry and Meghan. Senior members of the royal family, as well as the Prime Minister, are also permitted to use the RAF Voyager for certain occasions.
