Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria and her husband, Prince Daniel, along with Victoria’s brother, Prince Carl Philip, and his wife, Princess Sofia, are set to attend the wedding. The ceremony will take place at the Hotel Union in Geiranger on Saturday, August 31, with 350 guests expected.
A spokesperson from the Swedish royal palace confirmed their attendance to the newspaper Aftonbladet. It is not yet known if Victoria and Carl Philip’s younger sister, Princess Madeleine, and her husband, Christopher O’Neill, will also be present.
The Swedish and Norwegian royal families maintain a close friendship, and Crown Princess Victoria is the godmother to Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway’s daughter, Princess Ingrid Alexandra. Martha also attended Victoria and Daniel’s wedding in 2010 and Carl Philip and Sofia’s in 2015.
Martha and Durek will celebrate their marriage with a three-day event in Norway from August 29 to 31, covered exclusively by HELLO!. The festivities will begin on Thursday with a meet-and-greet party, followed by a boat trip along the Geiranger Fjord and a Latin American-themed pre-wedding party on Friday. The wedding ceremony will be conducted by parish priest Margit Lovise Holte at Hotel Union.
“We’re very excited,” Martha told HELLO! ahead of the wedding. “It feels amazing to be marrying Durek, and I’m so happy the day is almost here. The surroundings are stunning—it’s one of the most beautiful places I know.”
She added with a laugh, “Even if there are a few glitches, we can still enjoy the breathtaking scenery.”
Martha, who shares three daughters—Maud, 21, Leah, 19, and Emma, 16—with her late ex-husband Ari Behn, reflected on her decision to remarry: “I had decided not to get married again, but meeting Durek in 2018 changed my mind. For me, getting married will deepen our bond and elevate our relationship to a new phase.”
