An engaged firefighter is facing career ruin and jail for creeping into the bed of an underage family friend after turning up drunk at her home at 4am following a party.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Edward Snook, then 31, sneaked into the 17-year-old girl’s bedroom on the pretext of charging his mobile phone but instead got under her bed covers, stroked her stomach and said: ‘You are just so beautiful. What would your mum do if she knew I was in bed with you right now?’
The victim, who let Snook into her rented flat to sleep on her sofa as she knew him through family, fled the room in a state of panic when he started pleasuring himself in her bed and she was said to be ‘hyperventilating for 20 minutes.’
But the father of two, who lives with his fiancee and young children in Knutsford, stayed for a further two hours before eventually leaving, saying: ‘Thank you for this, hopefully we can do this again.’
He was reported to police after the girl told her family. Inquiries revealed Snook sent a text to her mother apologising for ‘messing up’ after he got home and sobered up.
COURT RULING
Snook, now 33, was found guilty of se-ual assault following a trial at Crewe Magistrates Court and was warned he faced being locked up for six months under sentencing guidelines. He will also have to sign the Sex Offender Register.

HIS ADMISSION
He admitted going to the girl’s house in the hope of having s-x with her but denied touching her or behaving sexually.
The incident occurred in April 2023 after Snook, who had attended a party with friends in Knutsford, texted the girl and asked if he could stay over at hers when he tried unsuccessfully to get a drink at cocktail bar.
