On August 19, the 18-year-old Shiloh Jolie-Pitt formally dropped her father’s surname and is now known as Shiloh Nouvel Jolie.
Shiloh, who celebrated her 18th birthday on May 27, filed the necessary legal paperwork to remove “Pitt” from her name on May 30, as per court records. The reasons for her decision have not been publicly disclosed.
In July, Shiloh placed a legal notice in the Los Angeles Times for several weeks, announcing her intent to change her name from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie.
This notice was part of California’s legal requirement, which mandates that name change petitions be published in a newspaper for at least four weeks prior to the court date to ensure no delays.
The name change comes eight years after Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt in 2016. Although a judge declared them legally single in 2019, their divorce has yet to be finalized.
The couple also has children Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16.
Throughout their separation, Jolie and Pitt have faced ongoing legal disputes over custody of their children and their shared assets, including a French winery.
