Romania’s anti-organized crime agency, DIICOT, confirmed that six people, both Romanian and foreign, have been detained. The charges include human trafficking, trafficking minors, s*xual intercourse with a minor, influencing statements, and money laundering. However, DIICOT has not specified which charges apply to each suspect.
As he left the courtroom, Andrew Tate vehemently denied the charges, calling them a “set-up” and a collection of lies. He claimed, “This is a set-up. It is absolutely disgusting,” and stated that many of the girls involved said nothing wrong had occurred.
When pressed by a BBC reporter about the allegations of s*xual activity with a 15-year-old, Tate declined to comment.
Tate’s spokesperson, Mateea Petrescu, indicated on August 21 that while the search warrant charges are not fully clarified, they include suspicions of human trafficking and money laundering. Petrescu did not address the specific allegations involving minors.
The Tate brothers, who had previously faced accusations of rape and human trafficking and were released from house arrest a year ago with restrictions on leaving Romania, are now dealing with separate allegations. These involve grooming vulnerable individuals and forcing them to create online pornography, according to DIICOT.
As they were taken into custody on August 21, Andrew Tate criticized the prosecutors, labeling the new allegations as “even more ridiculous than the first one” and expressing skepticism about the evidence. He also accused the media of ignoring the lack of evidence in the previous case.
The “loverboy” method, referenced in the allegations, involves traffickers manipulating victims into romantic relationships to exploit them under the guise of love.
