Ssekamwa appeared before the Masvingo Magistrates Court on charges related to violating the Censorship and Entertainment Control Act or criminal nuisance.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) disclosed that the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) acted on an anonymous tip-off received on Thursday, August 1, 2024. The tip-off indicated that Ssekamwa was in possession of sex toys at Backpackers Rest Budget Accommodation in Masvingo.
“The State’s case is that on August 1, 2024, the police were alerted to the presence of sex toys at the accused’s accommodation.
Following the tip-off, the police conducted a search and allegedly discovered sex toys and a men’s lubricant in Ssekamwa’s bag. He was subsequently arrested,” the NPA reported.
Ssekamwa appeared in court on August 6 for a bail hearing. Under Zimbabwean law, the possession or sale of adult toys is prohibited.
This follows a 2022 case where a well-known social media figure faced legal issues for openly dealing in similar items.
