Woman Bags 10 Years In Prison For Fatally Burning Her Husband Over Infidelity

Sindiaso Ndlovu, a 42-year-old woman from Maphisa, Kezi in Zimbabwe, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for murdering her husband over issues related to infidelity.

The Bulawayo High Court found Ndlovu guilty under Section 47 of the Criminal Law Act Chapter 9:23.

According to a statement from the National Prosecution Authority of Zimbabwe, the incident took place on October 19, 2019. Following a heated argument about his extramarital affairs, Ndlovu locked the bedroom door, poured petrol on her husband, Busani Ncube, and set him on fire in a fit of rage.

Police were alerted, leading to Ndlovu’s arrest. Ncube suffered severe burns and initially received treatment at Maphisa District Hospital before being transferred to United Bulawayo Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on January 8, 2020, three months after the incident.

Initially charged with attempted murder, Ndlovu’s charges were elevated to murder following Ncube’s death. After a trial spanning four years, the court imposed a 10-year prison sentence.
