Linton Weirich was sentenced to four and a half years in jail in June at Kingston Crown Court for a burglary in April, during which he stole £65,000 worth of goods from a luxury flat in Kensington. The stolen items included jewelry, belts, handbags, a laptop, and a suitcase.
Weirich, 36, from west London, was reportedly filmed on a mobile phone engaging in a sexual act with former prison officer Linda De Sousa Abreu, who appeared in court on Monday, July 1, charged with misconduct in public office.
Weirich’s partner, who is seven months pregnant, has suffered significant stress due to the situation. According to a source close to her, she was hospitalized over the weekend due to stress and fears it may induce premature labor.
Six years ago, Weirich pleaded guilty to dangerous driving on the M6 in Stafford and assaulting a police officer with intent to resist arrest, as well as driving without a license and insurance, when he appeared at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court in March 2018.
Ms. De Sousa Abreu, 30, who is married, was arrested at Heathrow Airport on Saturday as she attempted to board a flight to Madrid to visit relatives, according to court proceedings. She was found in possession of a Portuguese passport, which was confiscated by Metropolitan Police.
Charged with misconduct in public office for allegedly engaging in a sexual act with a prisoner in a prison cell, Ms. De Sousa Abreu appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates Court on Monday. She spoke only to confirm her personal details.
Prosecutor Niamh McDonagh stated: “Ms. De Sousa Abreu was apprehended at Heathrow Airport where she had a flight booked for Madrid. She is a Portuguese national with a Portuguese passport.”
Defense counsel Gayathri Yogarajah mentioned that Ms. De Sousa Abreu had informed HMP Wandsworth of her travel plans, which were relayed to Scotland Yard. She was granted conditional bail and is scheduled for a plea and case management hearing on July 29 at Isleworth Crown Court.
As part of her bail conditions, Ms. De Sousa Abreu must reside at a specified address in southwest London, surrender her Portuguese passport to police, refrain from obtaining or possessing international travel documents, and relinquish her Portuguese identity card for any permitted travel. Additionally, she is prohibited from entering any UK port and must comply with electronic monitoring between 9 pm and 7 am.
