The Father Of The Man Who Attempted To Assassinate Former President Trump Speaks Out For The First Time

The father of Thomas Matthew Crooks, the young man who attempted to assassinate Donald Trump, has spoken out publicly for the first time since the incident.

Matthew Brian Crooks, 53, made his comments while leaving a grocery store on Monday, July 22, as reported by Fox News.

“We’re focusing on taking care of ourselves right now. Please, give us some space,” Crooks said while loading groceries into his car.

“We will issue a statement when advised by our legal counsel—until then, we have no further comment.”

This marks the first public statement from Crooks since his 20-year-old son fired an AR-15 rifle at Trump during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.

The would-be assassin was shot dead by a Secret Service counter-sniper shortly after hitting the former president in the ear with one of his bullets.
