Prince Harry, 39, and Meghan, 42, live in Montecito, Santa Barbara. Last year, they took pleasure in attending their hometown’s Fourth of July parade.
Harry held their daughter Lilibet, who looked adorable in a blue paisley-print dress, while the family of four joined local residents to observe the procession of vintage cars and floats from community organizations.
Although they have traditionally celebrated America’s Independence Day at home, the Sussexes have also traveled for the holidays in previous years.
London Independence Day
In his memoir “Spare,” released in January 2023, Harry disclosed that one of his and Meghan’s initial dates in 2016 coincided with the Fourth of July.
Earlier that day, Meghan, formerly known for her role in Suits, had cheered on her friend Serena Williams at Centre Court in Wimbledon before meeting the Prince for a subsequent encounter at Soho House in London.
Harry recalled: “This time I was already there – waiting. Smiling. Proud of myself. [Meghan] walked in, wearing a pretty blue sundress with white pinstripes. She was aglow. I stood and said: ‘I bear gifts.’ A pink box. I held it forward. She shook it. ‘What’s this?’ ‘No, no, don’t shake it!’ We both laughed.
“She opened the box. Cupcakes. Red, white and blue cupcakes, to be exact. In honor of Independence Day. I said something about the Brits having a very different view of Independence Day from the Yanks, but, oh, well. She said they looked amazing.”
