As the patron of Medical Detection Dogs, Queen Camilla has chosen a new puppy’s name, drawing inspiration from her own family!
X (formerly known as Twitter) shared a post featuring an adorable snapshot of the sandy-hued pup, peacefully gazing at the camera while resting on a patch of grass.
Revealing Camilla’s specially selected moniker, Medical Detection Dogs captioned their post: “Meet Freddy, our newest team member named by a very special supporter – our Patron, The Queen.
“Her Majesty was invited to name a puppy in celebration of her continued Patronage. Welcome to the team, Freddy!”
Queen Camilla holds a special affection for the name Freddy, which also happens to belong to one of her grandsons. Tom Parker Bowles, her son, is a devoted father to Freddy and Lola, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Sara Buys.
Freddy, born in February 2011, is Camilla’s youngest grandchild, arriving two months after his cousins Gus and Louis. Freddy played a prominent role at the coronation as a page of honour alongside his cousins and Prince George.
In addition to Freddy and Lola, Camilla actively engages as a grandmother to Laura Lopes’ three children with her husband Harry Marcus George Lopes. Together, they have daughter Eliza and twins Gus and Louis. While Queen Camilla usually maintains privacy about her family life, she occasionally offers glimpses into her close bond with her grandchildren.
During a chat with Vogue, she shared: “The girls are beginning to get into clothes and make-up and, you know, it’s rather frightening when you see them, coming out with pierced ears and a lot of new make-up and funny-coloured hair and stuff.”
The Queen also spoke about her regular communications with her grandchildren. “It’s very nice getting a text,” she said. “We learn from very young people and they learn from us, too. That’s the way it’s always been.”
