Prince William And His Son Deeply Disappointed As England Lose To Spain

Among them was the Prince of Wales, who brought his 10-year-old son, Prince George, to support Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions team during the tense Euro 2024 final in Berlin.

A passionate football fan and President of the FA, Prince William, 42, joined the nervous crowd at the Olympiastadion in the German capital. William, whose wife, the Princess of Wales, made a triumphant return to Wimbledon on Sunday, was filmed arriving at the game alongside famous faces including Ed Sheeran, WAGs Kate Kane and Dani Dyer, and Peter Crouch.

As they watched the match with new Prime Minister Keir Starmer, King Felipe of Spain, and his daughter Infanta Sofia, the royal duo displayed a range of animated facial expressions and looked utterly heartbroken following England’s last-minute defeat. Prince William confirmed their presence at the stadium on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Alongside a video of himself and George arriving in style, he penned: “Hello, Berlin! #EURO2024”.

George, a passionate football fan, often joins his father at matches. Previously, he was seen celebrating the Three Lions’ early goal in the Euro 2020 final alongside William and his mother, the Princess of Wales.

England’s men’s team has not won a major tournament since 1966, making Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions the focus of intense scrutiny on Sunday night in hopes of a historic win.

The Prince of Wales serves as President of the Football Association and is a dedicated Aston Villa supporter, regularly attending England games and FA Cup finals. Newly elected Prime Minister Keir Starmer was prominently seated alongside the royals, engaging animatedly with George as the game commenced.

In the royal box, Prince William was accompanied by King Felipe VI of Spain and his daughter Princess Sofia, who adorned their attire with symbolic red accents to express loyalty to their home country. Father and son were engrossed in discussion throughout the match, both impeccably dressed in navy suits, white shirts, and striped ties for the occasion.

Before the UEFA EURO 2024 final match, the Olympiastadion was illuminated by a pyrotechnics display. King Felipe and Prince William exchanged warm greetings upon taking their seats, reflecting their longstanding friendship. The Spanish monarch and his wife, Queen Letizia, are frequent guests of the British royal family at significant events, such as King Charles’ coronation.

William was captured in animated conversation with his 10-year-old son as the game unfolded, while young George looked on with anticipation. Welsh football icon Gareth Bale paid his respects to King Felipe and Prince William at the start of the match.

Throughout the game, UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin also joined the royals, engaging in conversation with Prince George.

Ahead of the final, Prince of Wales showed his support to the England squad, telling them: “Show the world what you’re made of.” He continued: “We are so proud of you all, England, just one last push to finish the job! Go out there and show the world what you’re made of. We believe.”
