The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of TikToker Suleiman Yakubu for allegedly threatening to incite violence against security operatives during the upcoming nationwide protest.
The police reported that the suspect, known online as “Dam-Mallam68,” was heard in a viral video urging the public to attack security personnel and to burn down critical state and private infrastructure in Plateau State as part of the August 1 protest.
A statement from the command’s spokesperson, DSP Alfred Alabo, revealed that Yakubu, a resident of Jos North, was apprehended at Ahmadu Bello Way, Jos, thanks to reliable information. While in custody, Yakubu admitted to being the person in the video.
The Commissioner of Police emphasized that the police will firmly oppose any attempts by troublemakers to disrupt the state’s peace. He stressed the importance of maintaining order before, during, and after the protest.
Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, also urged residents to abide by the law and avoid making inflammatory remarks that could jeopardize peace and security in the state.
