The tall, blonde suspect was captured on surveillance in the toiletries aisle of a supermarket shortly before Cameron, 74, was fatally stabbed during a home invasion in Germany.
Bavarian police have been actively pursuing the suspect since the attack occurred on Saturday night, July 13.
British-born Mr. Cameron was allegedly knocked down after answering a doorbell at his residence before being discovered later, fatally wounded. His wife, a former top designer at BMW, sought help from neighbors after the incident.
Neighbors reported previous sightings of the suspect near Cameron’s £2 million property, suggesting a premeditated burglary targeting vintage cars stored there. Surveillance camera cables over the garages were found cut, indicating thorough preparation for the crime.
Despite the meticulous planning, authorities noted that lethal violence during such break-ins is uncommon.
The perpetrator reportedly fled the scene on foot. Police have assured the public there is no broader safety threat and have deployed dogs and a helicopter in their search efforts.
The suspect is described as 180cm to 190cm tall, wearing light trousers, a dark blue hooded sweatshirt, a red backpack, and yellow-green gloves.
Cameron, a renowned car designer hailed as “legendary” by Rolls-Royce, retired in 2013 after a distinguished career spanning two decades at the company, including 13 years as head of design.
His contributions included iconic models like the 3 Series, Z8, Phantom, and Ghost. Post-retirement, he continued as a brand ambassador for Rolls-Royce and launched his own design consultancy.
