Margaret, a pregnant woman, reportedly suffered sexual assault by an armed gang of six men while working on a farm in Kadiri, Keana Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The incident, which occurred on Friday, July 12, 2024, has sparked outrage and fear among residents, according to Nasarawa Mirror.
Recalling her ordeal, Margaret explained that she and her husband fled upon encountering the militia group, but her pregnancy hindered her escape, causing her to fall.
The armed men then assaulted her sequentially until she was left severely injured and barely conscious, after which they abandoned her.
Margaret was later discovered by her husband and promptly taken to the hospital for urgent medical treatment.
The incident has heightened tensions in the community, predominantly inhabited by farmers, who have expressed deep concerns about the safety of farmers in the area amidst recurring attacks.
The community has called on the government to intervene swiftly, urging justice for the victim and improved security measures to safeguard residents from such atrocities.
