Man Accused Of Murdering Two White Gay Men, Whose Remains Were Discovered In A Suitcase

A 34-year-old Colombian man appeared in a London court on Monday, facing charges of murdering two men whose remains were discovered in suitcases in southwest England.

Yostin Andres Mosquera was accused of killing Albert Alfonso, 62, and Paul Longworth, 71, according to London’s Metropolitan Police.

During a brief hearing at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court, assisted by a Spanish interpreter, the suspect confirmed his name, address, and date of birth. Magistrate Christina Ruiz ordered his detention until a hearing at London’s Central Criminal Court on Wednesday.

Police stated that the victims had previously been in a relationship and continued to reside together, with the suspect reportedly staying at their apartment in west London.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Andy Valentine mentioned that based on current evidence, there was no indication of a homophobic motive behind the murders.

“I hope it will provide some reassurance that while inquiries are ongoing and the investigation is in its early stages, we are not seeking anyone else in connection with these two murders,” Valentine stated.

The suspect was apprehended at a train station in Bristol on Saturday, three days after body parts were found in suitcases on Bristol’s Clifton Suspension Bridge.

Police were alerted after reports of suspicious behavior, but the man had left by the time officers arrived. Additional remains were discovered at the victims’ residence in London.
