Khyree Jackson, NFL Player, Is Dead

NFL player Khyree Jackson, 24, was killed in a car crash along with two others after a vehicle traveling at high speed collided with their car, according to Maryland police.

The crash occurred just before 3:15 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, in Prince George’s County and involved three vehicles, police reported in a news release.

Jackson, a cornerback for the Minnesota Vikings, was in the front passenger seat of a maroon Dodge Charger, traveling with Isaiah Hazel, 23, and Anthony Lytton, 24. Hazel, who was driving, and Jackson died at the scene. Lytton was taken to the hospital but was later pronounced dead.

The accident happened when a silver Infiniti, driven by Cori Clingman, was traveling northbound on Route 4 and attempted to change lanes at high speed, striking the Charger before hitting a Chevrolet Impala.

Investigators believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, and charges are pending. The impact caused the Charger to veer off the road and hit multiple tree stumps before stopping.

Clingman, 23, and two passengers in the Infiniti were not injured. The driver of the Impala was also uninjured and declined medical treatment at the scene.

Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell expressed his devastation over Jackson’s death, saying he was “absolutely crushed” and “at a loss for words.”

“Khyree brought a contagious energy to our facility and our team,” O’Connell said in a statement posted on X. “His confidence and engaging personality immediately drew his teammates to him. In our short time together, it was evident Khyree was going to develop into a tremendous professional football player, but what was more impressive was his desire to become the best person he could be for his family and those around him.”

“Our thoughts are with Khyree’s family, friends, teammates and coaches, as well as all the victims of this tragic accident,” the team wrote on X.
