After Biden’s lackluster performance marked by gaffes, many within the Democratic Party have begun engaging in a blame game, pointing to Biden’s advisors’ inadequate debate preparation against Donald Trump. Some are even calling for Biden to be replaced before the election.
Dr. Allan Lichtman of American University, who has not yet made his official prediction for November’s election, previously indicated that Trump’s 34 felony convictions are unlikely to impact the 2024 election. He cautioned Democrats against pushing the 81-year-old Biden off the ticket.
“It’s a significant mistake,” he told CNN. “They are not physicians; they cannot determine Biden’s physical ability to serve a second term.”
Dr. Lichtman noted that similar concerns were raised about Ronald Reagan, who successfully ran for a second term at the age of 73.
‘He won 49 states, so this is all foolhardy nonsense. The same pundits who led us down the primrose path of 2016 are giving the Democrats horrible advice. At the first sign of adversity the spineless Democrats want to throw under the bus, their own incumbent president. My goodness,’ he said.
Lichtman’s keys are based on a set of straightforward true-or-false questions related to party mandate, contest, incumbency, third party, short-term economy, long-term economy, policy change, social unrest, scandal, foreign/military failure, foreign/military success, incumbent charisma, and challenger charisma.
The historian employs a formula he developed with mathematician Vladimir Keilis-Borok, analyzing elections dating back to 1860. Since 1984, he has successfully used this method to predict the outcomes of nine presidential elections.
