The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two individuals for the murder of a man named Umaru, whom they accused of witchcraft.
The suspects are Adamu Alhaji Bamu, 35, and Manu Alhaji Bamu, 32, both from Kila village in the Toungo local government area.
According to SP Suleiman Nguroje, spokesperson for the state police command, both suspects have confessed to the crime.
Adamu explained that Umaru was not originally a witch but was believed to have become one after losing all his cattle. He claimed that Umaru had previously expressed intentions to use witchcraft to kill his father and inherit his cattle.
Adamu further alleged that Umaru had started bewitching his children after failing to execute his plan. He accused Umaru of killing his daughter, Hurera, and later Mumuni.
In retaliation, Adamu admitted to killing Umaru with a machete, striking him four times, while his brothers beat Umaru with sticks until he died. Adamu stated that he does not regret his actions.
