A woman’s phone is snatched by a mask-wearing pickpocket from right under her nose, as she dines outside at a London restaurant.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The incident, which took place at Xian Biang Biang Noodles in Covent Garden, sees a thief distract the victim with a begging sign before covertly swiping the device and calmly walking away.

Isolde Stephens, 21, who was having dinner with her cousin during a visit to the city from Amsterdam, said she was soon shown CCTV of the incident by restaurant staff before attempting to find the woman by running down the street.

After she failed to track down the pickpocket Ms Stephens reported the incident to police and, using Find My iPhone, saw that the device spent the night in London before moving ‘far out of’ the capital the next morning.

Now footage has emerged of the incident which sees the woman pinch the phone from the table on a packed London street.
