The Duke And Duchess Of Sussex's Children Are Yet To Make Royal Debut At Trooping the Colour

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s children, Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three, are growing up in California.

Despite traveling to the UK for the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022, they have missed out on a significant royal moment.

Every year, the royal family gathers on the Buckingham Palace balcony to watch the flypast after Trooping the Colour, known as the King’s birthday parade.

Although Prince Harry and Meghan appeared alongside the royal family for this event in 2018 and 2019, as well as the RAF centenary in 2018, Archie and Lilibet have yet to have their moment on the famous balcony.

In recent years, the tradition has been slimmed down to include only working members of the royal family. Thus, despite being spotted at a window watching proceedings in 2022, Harry and Meghan did not appear on the balcony, having stepped back from public duties in 2020.

Archie was just a month old during Trooping the Colour in 2019, making him too young for an appearance, as royal children typically debut on the balcony at around one year old. Harry, Meghan, and Archie moved to the US in March 2020 after deciding to leave royal life.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Trooping the Colour was scaled back and held at Windsor Castle in 2020 and 2021. While Harry has made brief visits to the UK in recent years, Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet have not accompanied him.
