Taylor Swift was turned down by her favorite London kebab shop owner after offering him a free VIP ticket to one of her Wembley Stadium shows during her Eras tour.
The owner, Ahmed Khan, explained that he was short-staffed that night and too occupied with work to attend her sold-out concert. Taylor, aged 34, was introduced to Kentish Delight, the beloved kebab shop in north London, by her ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn, who is from Tufnell Park.
Her fondness for the shop’s delicious food left a lasting impression, prompting Taylor’s team to invite Ahmed to attend one of her tour concerts. However, Ahmed told The Sun that he had no choice but to decline the offer.
He told the publication: “She first came in before the pandemic with Joe. He knew we had the best kebabs so wanted to show Taylor. It did not feel like she was a big celebrity. She was very down to earth and spoke to everyone with respect.”
Her business Kentish Delight was prominently featured in the music video for her 2017 hit song “End Game,” and she reportedly promised Ahmed that she would film another video there soon. Recently, the singer returned to the takeaway shop to place a substantial order for her tour crew. This included 45 large chicken doner kebabs, amounting to around £450. Ensuring her and her entourage were well-fed, the “Love Story” singer prepared for eight sold-out shows in the capital during the summer.
A source told The Sun: “They’ll be collected by someone from her team on the night. It’s a big order but the kebab house can handle it. Taylor adds garlic sauce to hers, as well as heaps of salad.”
In July last year, devoted Taylor Swift fan Emily Talbut posted a TikTok video of her visit to the singer’s preferred London takeaway. The cozy eatery proudly showcases its association with the pop star, featuring a selfie of Taylor Swift displayed prominently in its window.
Additionally, a framed poster of “Swift Kebab” inside the shop shows Taylor Swift visiting the establishment on various occasions. The pop sensation further solidified her affection for the UK by arranging for a Greggs sausage roll van ahead of her first sold-out Eras tour show in Edinburgh earlier this month.
