Sean “Diddy” Combs has returned the Key to the City of New York after Mayor Eric Adams requested its return earlier this month.
This request followed the circulation of a video showing Combs physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie in 2016.

Security footage obtained by CNN seemed to depict Combs attacking Cassie in a hotel hallway, aligning with an incident she had described in a federal lawsuit in November.
The footage, from March 2016, captured Combs walking behind a woman near an elevator, grabbing her, throwing her to the ground, kicking her twice, and dragging her by her sweatshirt.
In a letter directed to a communications representative for the musician, Adams expressed being “deeply disturbed” by the assault footage.
“I strongly condemn these actions and stand in solidarity with all survivors of domestic and gender-based violence,” Adams wrote. “Our city has worked tirelessly to make sure survivors are heard and seen by our administration.”
The letter, dated June 4, was sent to addresses associated with Combs in Los Angeles and New York City, according to the mayor’s office. The key was returned to the city six days later.
Combs has faced a series of civil lawsuits in recent months and is now under federal investigation, sources have informed NBC News. Since November, Combs has been the subject of five lawsuits in New York alleging sexual assault, sexual trafficking, and other criminal activities. Combs has vehemently denied all the allegations, describing them as sickening.
In her lawsuit, Cassie alleged that Combs raped and physically abused her, including punching, beating, kicking, and stomping her throughout their relationship. The lawsuit was settled the day after it was filed, with Combs vehemently denying the allegations through his lawyer at the time.
Subsequently, he released a video apology in response to the hotel footage, acknowledging that his “behavior on that video is inexcusable.”
