Media personality Denola Grey has criticized the pressure African parents often place on their children to get married.
Denola believes that many marriages are unfulfilling and compared them to “slavery.”
He expressed his desire to wait for a partner he genuinely loves, rather than settling for someone just to meet societal expectations.
These views were expressed in a recent interview on the ‘DressedToConfess’ podcast, where Denola questioned why older generations are so fixated on marriage.
He suggested that many of them are not happy in their own marriages.
According to him: “When will you marry? When will you fix your marriage? How about that? I don’t know why they are so obsessed with marriage because a lot of them are not in happy marriages, especially like the older generation.
“I’m like so you want me to just meet someone, marry them and just be managing them. Like, I hate slavery”.
