A New York man has been arrested over claims he attempted to drown his children, twins at Connecticut beach.
HOW THE CHILDREN WERE SAVED
Screaming was heard by a West Haven Police Department officer who saw an adult ‘deliberately drowning his children’ in the water at 2.30am on Saturday.
The West Haven Police officer was in the area on a patrol when he heard ‘significant screaming’.
He then saw two small children and an adult male in the water and went to approach them.

But the man moved further away and shouted at him to ‘stay back’. The officer said it was clear that he was ‘deliberately drowning his children’.
Once backup officers arrived at the scene, they immediately entered the water around 100 yards from shore.
The first officer who responded to the incident rescued both of the children.
Emergency services conducted ‘life saving measures’ and the kids, both under the age of three, were taken to hospital in critical condition.

Romney Desronvil, 41, was detained on charges of attempted murder, reckless endangerment and risk of injury to children, a court clerk said.
He was arraigned Monday in Milford Superior Court, where a judge set bail at $2 million and ordered him to return to court on July 1.
WHY HE DID WHAT HE DID
He reportedly told authorities that he’d uncovered ‘witchcraft’ belonging to the children’s biological mother, which sent him into a panic.
The materials, he asserted, suggested the woman was casting some sort of hex meant to ‘wish ill on another male.’
Desronvil immediately thought he was in danger. At one point, he yelled on the beach that his children’s mother wanted to kill him.
The father, who admitted to kidnapping the twins, under the age of three, from their New York home, said he drove onto the beach around 2 a.m. to speak to another child who reportedly reinforced his suspicions but became spooked when he noticed a cop car driving by.
He entered another panic and grabbed his children before plunging into the water.
