An American man who recently traveled to West Africa has remarked that people in that region are beginning to experience a higher quality of life compared to Americans, and he provided his reasons.
The man, who works as a real estate investment adviser, argued that achieving prosperity in Africa offers a superior lifestyle compared to prosperity in America. He noted that affluent individuals in Africa enjoy better standards of living and possess assets in their own name.
In contrast, he observed that many prosperous Americans are burdened with significant debt, often owning possessions that are not fully paid for. Upon returning to America after his visit to Africa, he described experiencing a cultural shock.
“If you’re doing really well in your life, it is better to be doing really well in Africa than it is to be in America,” he said.
According to him, affluent individuals in Africa are notably more relaxed and generous, able to take leisure breaks from work. In contrast, wealthy Americans face challenges with bills accumulating if they take time off.
He said, “It shows kind of why I feel West Africa is the future because here people are putting up an appearance of being rich, well-to-do, but it’s fueled by debt and it’s fueled by them working two jobs.
“Your husband and wife are working high-paying jobs, 50 hours a week each and doing all of that just to create this facade. Whereas in West Africa, once these guys have made it, they’re living good lives, they’re having that balance of life, and they’re not killing themselves.”
