Wendy Williams and her family are implementing adjustments in light of her challenging struggle with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
Earlier this year, the ex-talk show host disclosed her diagnosis publicly for the first time, and subsequently shared further details: “I want to say I have immense gratitude for the love and kind words I have received after sharing my diagnosis of Aphasia and Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD). Let me say, wow! Your response has been overwhelming.”
As she continues to prioritize her well-being, Wendy has parted ways with her luxurious penthouse in Manhattan.
According to records obtained by the New York Post, Wendy, through her guardian, has officially sold her apartment located in the Financial District, which she owned for nearly three years.
The 2,400 square foot residence boasted a breathtaking view of the Hudson River from its expansive terrace. Despite being initially purchased for $4.5 million, it was sold last week at a loss, reportedly for $3.75 million.
The apartment comprises three bedrooms and three bathrooms, with floor-to-ceiling windows and hardwood floors spanning its two levels.
Additionally, the building offers amenities such as a fitness center, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, and a 60-foot lap pool.
Since 2022, Wendy has been under a financial guardianship after her bank, Wells Fargo, asserted in a New York court that she was deemed an “incapacitated person” and a victim of “undue influence and financial exploitation.”
At the time, her attorney La’Shawn Thomas told The Hollywood Reporter: “Wendy doesn’t agree with a financial guardian being appointed,” adding: “If it’s the court’s intention to have one appointed over her affairs for the long haul, she definitely isn’t going to accept that.”
Wendy gave insight into her experience with both the guardianship, which is managed by Sabrina Morrissey, as well as FTD and aphasia in a two-part documentary on Lifetime titled Where Is Wendy Williams. In it, she said: “I have no money, and I’m going to tell you something… If it happens to me, it could happen to you.”
