The Duke of Westminster has secured the top spot on The Sunday Times Rich List for under-40s in Britain.
Hugh Grosvenor, 33, who is set to marry Olivia Henson soon, is estimated to have a wealth of £10.127 billion, up from £9.878 billion in 2023, as reported by the newspaper.
Hugh inherited the Grosvenor estate from his late father, Gerald, who passed away at the age of 64 in 2016. The Grosvenor Group, which the Duke oversees, has a vast portfolio spanning 40 cities worldwide, including large estates in Lancashire and Scotland.
The property group also owns approximately 300 acres of land in Mayfair and Belgravia, and major city center developments such as Liverpool’s ONE shopping center.
On The Sunday Times Rich List overall, the Duke ranks 15th with his £10 billion fortune, down from 11th in 2023. Hugh was only 25 years old when he inherited the dukedom and took control of the family’s business.
The Grosvenor family’s ancestral seat, Eaton Hall, is located in Cheshire, near where the Duke and Olivia will marry at Chester Cathedral on June 7.
Despite the family’s wealth, Hugh’s parents, Gerald and Natalia, sent him to a local primary school before he attended the private Mostyn House School and later Ellesmere College in Shropshire. He studied Countryside Management at Newcastle University.
In addition to his role as Chair of the Grosvenor Trustees, the Duke heads the Westminster Foundation, which represents the charitable interests of the Duke and Grosvenor businesses.
Hugh’s engagement to account manager Olivia Henson was announced in April 2023, after the couple had been dating for two years.
The Grosvenor family has a longstanding close connection to the British royal family. The Duke was chosen as godfather to Prince George, the son of the Prince and Princess of Wales, and to Prince Archie, the son of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
It has been widely reported that the King and Queen, and Prince William, Princess Kate, and their children have been invited to the wedding, though it is not yet known which royals will attend the ceremony.
