Rose Hanbury, known as the Marchioness of Cholmondeley, was among the guests who attended the final day of the Badminton Horse Trials in Gloucestershire on Sunday, joining the royals for the event.
The 40-year-old British peeress was photographed curtseying to Queen Camilla while engaged in conversation alongside beauty entrepreneur Charlotte Tilbury. Rose was elegantly dressed in a cyan blue trouser suit paired with a pale blue shirt.
Accompanying Rose were her husband, David Cholmondeley, the 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley, and their children. The Cholmondeleys, who are friends of the Prince and Princess of Wales, reside at Houghton Hall in Norfolk, near Prince William and Kate’s country home, Anmer Hall.
Rose and David, married since June 2009, are parents to twin sons, Alexander (Earl of Rocksavage) and Lord Oliver, both aged 14, as well as an eight-year-old daughter Lady Iris.
The Cholmondeley family has a longstanding connection with the British royal family; Rose’s maternal grandmother, Lady Elizabeth Lambart, served as one of the bridesmaids at the wedding of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in 1947.
During his teenage years, David served as Page of Honour to the late Queen and later assumed the role of Lord Great Chamberlain of the UK from 1990 to 2022.
In 2016, William and Kate attended a charity ball hosted at Houghton Hall in support of the Princess’s charity patronage, East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH), and Rose and David accompanied the royals to church on New Year’s Day in previous years.
Additionally, the couple’s son, Lord Oliver, was selected as a page of honour at King Charles and Queen Camilla’s coronation in May 2023.
