On Tuesday, the Grand Ducal Court of Luxembourg announced that Princess Alexandra and her husband, Nicolas Bagory, have welcomed their first child.
In a statement, the palace said: “The Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess have the great joy of announcing the birth of their granddaughter Victoire, first child of their daughter Alexandra and their son-in-law Nicolas, born this Tuesday, May 14 in Paris. Both mother and child are doing well.”
While official photographs have yet to be released, the arrival of the baby girl marks the eighth grandchild for Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa.
Victoire’s birth comes just three weeks after Princess Alexandra, aged 33, and Nicolas celebrated their first wedding anniversary on April 22nd.
Alexandra’s pregnancy was confirmed by the Grand Ducal Court last December, and her newborn daughter now holds the ninth position in the Luxembourger throne succession.
The princess, who is the fourth child and only daughter of the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess, has three elder brothers – Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, Prince Felix, and Prince Louis – as well as a younger brother, Prince Sebastien.
Alexandra, who was raised in the Luxembourg countryside at Fischbach Castle, was previously excluded from the line of succession until 2011 when her father, Grand Duke Henri, introduced absolute primogeniture, granting all his female descendants the right to be included in the line of succession.
Princess Alexandra and Nicolas Bagory’s Wedding
Princess Alexandra, a professional linguist, exchanged vows with Paris-based businessman Nicolas Bagory in a civil ceremony in Luxembourg on April 22, 2023. Following this, a religious wedding was held at Saint Trophyme church in Bormes-Les-Mimosas, France, a few days later.
For the civil ceremony, the royal bride adorned separates from the Belgian label, Natan. Subsequently, for the religious service, Alexandra stunned in an Elie Saab gown, characterized by a criss-crossed bodice and an elegant A-line silhouette.
