Prince William Is Poised To Play A Significant Role At The Duke Of Westminster’s Wedding

Prince William is reportedly set to serve as an usher next month at the wedding of his friend, the Duke of Westminster.

Hugh Grosvenor and his fiancée Olivia Henson are scheduled to marry at Chester Cathedral on 7 June. Their wedding is anticipated to be one of the most prominent society events of the year, with a star-studded guest list.

The Duke, 33, shares a close bond with Prince William and Princess Kate. He attended Prince George’s christening at the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace and was named as one of his godparents. King Charles is also one of Hugh’s godparents.

According to The Sunday Times, while Prince William is poised to take on a significant role, Princess Kate is not expected to attend due to ongoing cancer treatment.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, along with King Charles, are also expected to miss the wedding. Prince Harry, like William, has a longstanding close relationship with Hugh, who is a godfather to Prince Archie, five.

Hugh Grosvenor, known to friends as ‘Hughie,’ inherited the title and seat at Eaton Hall from his father in 2016, along with extensive land holdings across Oxfordshire, Cheshire, Lancashire, and Scotland, as well as significant property in Mayfair and Belgravia.

His estimated net worth is around £9.878 billion. He also serves as the Chair of the Westminster Foundation, which focuses on supporting vulnerable young children.

Olivia Henson is a senior account manager at Belazu, a B-Corp certified food company in London. She met King Charles’s godson back in 2021 through mutual friends, and the couple celebrated their engagement in April 2023.

The wedding ceremony will take place at Chester Cathedral, followed by a reception at Eaton Hall.

A spokesperson for the couple said: “The couple have chosen the cathedral for both its beauty and long association with the Grosvenor family, including to the Duke personally.

Because I do realise that it’s going to be a big thing for the city. It’s going to be certainly a huge thing for us, so we’re just really grateful for all the help.”
