Prince Harry Plans To Swiftly Depart Following The Invictus Service To Join Meghan Markle In Nigeria

Prince Harry made his highly anticipated return to London on Tuesday, May 7, and the following day, he attended a service at St. Paul’s Cathedral commemorating the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games.

However, his time in the city was brief as he is scheduled to depart on Thursday to join his wife, Meghan, for their trip to Nigeria.

The couple received an invitation from the Chief of Defence Staff, the highest-ranking military official in Nigeria, whom Harry had met at the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf last September.

On Wednesday, David Wiseman, a friend of Harry’s and Director at the Invictus Games Foundation, spoke about the significance of the upcoming trip.

He said: “We’re going over to Nigeria over the next few days and we’re going over to see the progress that’s being made with regards to establishing and developing sports recovery in that nation and celebrating that incredible progress that they’ve made.”

Meghan’s Nigerian Connection

At the previous year’s Invictus Games, Meghan dedicated considerable time to connecting with the Nigerian team, who graciously bestowed upon her a Nigerian name.

Nigeria holds a significant significance for Meghan, as she has familial ties to the country, a fact she shared on her previous podcast, Archetypes.

Talking with celebrity interviewer Ziwe, the royal said: “I just had my genealogy done a couple years ago… [and I’m] Forty-three percent Nigerian.”

She went on: “I’m going to start to dig deeper into all this because anybody that I’ve told, especially Nigerian women, are like ‘What!'”
