Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have returned to California after their charitable organization issued a statement in response to a controversy surrounding a “delinquency” claim.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who recently concluded what they described as an “unforgettable” trip to Nigeria, were photographed back home today.

The couple flew back to the United States after attending a charity exhibition match at the Lagos Polo Club. Prior to their departure, Harry, 39, engaged in a basketball game with a group of Nigerian youths.

During their three-day visit to the West African nation, he and Meghan interacted with locals and leaders, unveiling a partnership between their Archewell Foundation and the non-profit organization Giants of Africa, which focuses on empowering young people through sports.

However, following their departure, the charity made headlines when it was reportedly labeled “delinquent” and instructed to cease fundraising activities due to alleged delays in filing its 2022 tax return and associated fees.

Although the necessary documents were submitted and payment was sent, it was not received in time, as reported by The Telegraph.

In response to the allegations, the Sussexes’ charity broke its silence, asserting its full compliance with regulations.

A spokesperson stated: “We have thoroughly investigated the matter and can confirm that The Archewell Foundation remains fully compliant and in good standing. Payments were promptly made in accordance with IRS procedures, and all required paperwork was submitted without any errors or misconduct.”

In a subsequent statement on Tuesday night, California’s Department of Justice confirmed the charity’s current and favorable standing.

A spokesperson from the department remarked: “Following communication with our Registry of Charities and Fundraisers, the organization is up-to-date and in good standing.”

As they departed Nigeria, the couple expressed their “deep appreciation” for the communities’ “exceptional hospitality.”
