Prince Harry and Meghan Markle bought a home in one of California’s most exclusive areas, but they couldn’t have anticipated the unforeseen challenges they would face years later.
The couple resides in a sprawling $14.5 million mansion in Montecito with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The interior boasts seven bedrooms, thirteen and a half bathrooms, a home office, and a gym, featuring a blend of minimalist, Scandinavian, and classic Mediterranean accents. Meanwhile, the exterior is equally impressive, with amenities like a chicken coop, swimming pool, and a playhouse for their children.
However, they have encountered a challenge: a displeasing aroma from a neighboring farm. Living in a private area surrounded by countryside means they are exposed to unexpected issues, such as the aroma coming from a nearby cannabis farm located just 10 minutes away, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Cannabis is legal for medical use in 38 states and for recreational use in 24 states, including California. This allows neighbors to grow the plants on an “industrial scale,” which, while profitable, can produce an overwhelmingly powerful smell.
Harry and Meghan are not the only ones who may be affected by the stench; their Santa Barbara neighbors include Oprah Winfrey, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom.
The Sussexes’ Home
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle bought the property known as the Chateau of Riven Rock for $14.6 million (£11.93 million) in July 2020, but according to The Sun, the value has more than doubled to an estimated $30 million, as of 2022.
During that period, they have provided several glimpses inside their expansive 7-acre grounds, notably in their Netflix docuseries “Harry & Meghan.”
This included a snapshot of Harry, a loving father, playing football with little Archie on his shoulders, alongside Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland.
He also enjoyed some summer fun with his children, setting up a slip-n-slide on the sloping hill in their garden—perfect for cooling off when they don’t feel like taking a dip in the pool.
For a more relaxing way to enjoy the outdoor space, Harry and Meghan can sit on the terrace, on a romantic outdoor bench with a blue and white striped cushion, surrounded by manicured bushes.
