Police chased knifeman after boy DIED and five people suffer injuries that require surgery

Police chase a knifeman suspected of carrying out a ‘terrifying sword attack’ as he charges through gardens in east London

Prior to the chase, two police officers and three members of the public were rushed to hospital following reports that a van had rammed into a home just before a knifeman started prowling the streets.

He attacked the two officers and passersby before being tasered and arrested in a bloody scuffle in front of horrified residents who heard ‘piercing screams’. 

Number of Victims

The injured officers were rushed to hospital with ‘serious’ injuries. Two members of the public were also treated following the horror rampage that unfolded. 

Police later confirmed the boy, 14, reportedly on his way to school, had died in hospital and the two officers will require surgery for serious injuries.

His Arrest

Footage captured moments before police arrested the 36-year-old man – the knife wielding thug, dressed in a yellow hoodie, stood on top of a garage roof before entering a resident’s garden. 

A member of the public can be heard desperately warning people to ‘lock your doors’ while officers scramble to subdue the man and prevent him injuring anyone else. 

The man can be seen to dressed in yellow as he runs behind a fence gate behind a block of houses. 

One man can be heard yelling ‘come here’ and ‘drop the sword’, as the man contunues to evade police. 

The shocking attack has seen both Rishi Sunak and Kier Starmer pay tribute to the victims and King Charles has also ‘saluted’ the courage of officers who worked to bring the attack to a close.
