King Frederik and Queen Mary delighted the crowds during their inaugural state visit to Sweden. Amidst the grandeur and formality of the occasion, the couple shared a tender moment that didn’t escape notice.
Throughout the two-day visit, the Danish royals had separate engagements, with Queen Mary exploring the art museum, Prins Eugens Waldemarsudde, alongside Queen Silvia of Sweden.
Following their respective engagements, Mary and Frederik reunited for lunch at Stockholm City Hall.
The 55-year-old king was photographed with a radiant smile as he warmly embraced his wife, planting a kiss on her cheek. Mary, aged 52, exuded elegance in a red dress paired with a camel caped jacket, reciprocating the embrace before they entered the building together.
This endearing scene mirrored a similar moment from Frederik’s accession day in January, where the new king passionately kissed Mary on the balcony of Christiansborg Palace following his proclamation.
The couple, who first crossed paths during the Sydney 2000 Olympics, are set to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary on May 14th. Coinciding with this milestone, they embark on their second state visit to Norway, where they will reunite with King Harald V, Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon, and Crown Princess Mette-Marit.
Meanwhile, during their visit to Sweden, their eldest son and heir to the Danish throne, 18-year-old Crown Prince Christian, served as regent. The couple’s family includes 17-year-old Princess Isabella and 13-year-old twins, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine.
