The 29-year-old model donned a white Thom Browne off-the-shoulder gown embellished with a yellow flower on the front while gracing the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, May 6th.
Although the top of her dress was elegantly simple, the bottom was adorned with additional flowers intertwined with green vines. The gown boasted nearly three million microbeads, meticulously attached over 500 hours. (It’s worth noting that Hadid had a team of assistants helping to fluff her skirt.)
Earlier in the day, she teased her look on Instagram Stories, sharing a photo of the designer’s name on a tag that read “Met Gala.” She accessorized the ensemble with a yellow ring and long earrings, adhering to this year’s “The Garden of Time” dress code, and also carried yellow roses in hand. Completing her look, Hadid embraced an Old Hollywood glam aesthetic that perfectly complemented her signature blonde hairstyle.
Celebrity nail artist Mei Kawajiri collaborated with Nailboo, utilizing their gel products to enhance Hadid’s on-theme appearance.
“I like to paint a single very thin coat of nude gel to keep the french manicure a bit fresher and more sheer,” Kawajiri said in a statement about Hadid’s nails. “The hand sculpted 3D yellow flowers add a playful touch to a classic style. This mix of playful and classic is just like Gigi. We wanted the nail looks to be a continuation of her Met Gala look designed by Thom Browne.”
The theme for the 2024 Met Gala is “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” with Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Hemsworth, and Bad Bunny serving as celebrity hosts. The accompanying Costume Institute exhibition will showcase a range of garments designed by notable names such as Elsa Schiaparelli, Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, and Hubert de Givenchy, among others.
Hadid is a familiar face at the Met Gala, having attended nearly every year since 2015. Her debut on the iconic carpet featured her in a striking red DVF gown with a thigh-high slit. Over the years, Hadid’s attire often reflected her collaborations with prominent designers. She sported Tommy Hilfiger ensembles in 2016 and 2017, reflecting her involvement with the Tommy X Gigi collections.
Additionally, Hadid has partnered with Versace twice, in 2018 and 2022, as well as with Michael Kors and Prada.
Her appearance at this year’s Met Gala follows a recent romantic getaway to Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, with boyfriend Bradley Cooper, alongside best friend Taylor Swift and Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce. Details of the vacation were shared by Travis’s mother, Donna Kelce, during the QVC’s Age of Possibility summit in Las Vegas late last month. Cooper, 49, and Donna met at the event, with Donna mentioning, “Travis told me you were going to be here.”
While Hadid’s friendship with Swift, 34, spans over a decade, her relationship with Cooper has been blossoming over the past few months. The couple was first linked romantically in October 2023, with sources indicating they were thoroughly enjoying their time together.
