29-year-old William Boswarva asked a friend to take a DNA test for him so he could avoid paying child maintenance support has been jailed for 12 months for fraud.
What Happened?
William who got the child’s mother pregnant on a one-night stand plans to have nothing with the child.
During pandemic, the mother asked Boswarva for child maintenance but he sent another man armed with his driving licence and photo ID to the medical centre for the identity test.
How They Fooled Others
The other man was wearing a mask meaning he could fool staff working at the centre.
When Boswarva was arrested he claimed there had been ‘some kind of mix up’ admitting that while he did have sex with the woman, he had taken the test and did not believe he was the father. Â

Court Ruling
William has being convicted of conspiracy to commit fraud and was jailed for 12 months on Tuesday ‘in a clear message of deterrence.’
Jurors heard that the defendant had attempted to put pressure on the child’s mother in order to convince her to have an abortion and told her he wanted ‘nothing to do’ with the baby.
