This year, avid equestrian Zara Tindall participated in the annual Badminton Horse Trials, riding her horse Class Affair.
As always, the 42-year-old mother of three received unwavering support from her family, who stood by her side throughout the event.
While Zara’s husband Mike and their three children, Mia, Lena, and Lucas, were cheerfully showing their support from the sidelines, the Olympic medalist also had a touching encounter with her stepfather, Sir Timothy Laurence, in a moment that could have easily gone unnoticed.
On Saturday, a jodhpur-clad Zara was spotted warmly embracing Timothy, 69, as they shared a loving hug in the radiant sunshine. Timothy, dressed casually in a checkered shirt and khaki trousers, was captured beaming as he took off his trusted sunhat and sunglasses to greet his beloved stepdaughter.
Zara and her husband Mike have a close relationship with Princess Anne and her husband Sir Timothy, residing just a short distance from each other. Initially living in Cheltenham after their marriage in 2011, Zara and Mike now call Aston Farm, a beautiful property located on Princess Anne’s expansive Gatcombe estate, their home.
Princess Anne, on the other hand, resides in the main residence on Gatcombe Park, a Grade-II listed house gifted to her by Queen Elizabeth II in the 1970s upon her marriage to Captain Mark Phillips. Since then, Princess Anne has made the grand estate her permanent residence.
In a clip shared to the horse trials’ official Instagram page, Zara, who could be seen balancing a cheeky Lucas on her hip, revealed: “It was good actually. I had one down disappointing but he [Class Affair] actually jumped mega because he did feel tired this morning. I think it’s the first time ever.
“I probably should have let go early, I’m sure my father will tell me what I did wrong but it’s so nice to be back in there. I just want to thank my owner and my team, who did a mega job yesterday after a hard day’s work and they worked so hard, and we can’t do it without any of them so thank you.”
